PhD at National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur


National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand has invited applications for admission to PhD Programme commencing from August 2013 in the following streams of Mineral Processing:

  • Mineral Processing: Agglomeration, Coal & Iron Ore, Petrography.
  • Extractive Metallurgy: Hydro-Biometallurgy, Pyrometallurgy, Electrometallurgy, Process Modelling.
  • Surface Engineering: Corrosion, Tribology, Surface Modification.
  • Applied and Analytical Chemistry: Surface and Water Chemistry
  • Materials Engineering and Evaluation: Physical and Mechanical Metallurgy, Alloy Development, Microstructural Characterization, Materials Mechanics, Metal Forming and Joining, Non-destructive Evaluation, Materials Modeling.
  • Advanced Materials and Processing: Nanomaterials, Magnetic Materials, Biomimetic and Biomaterials.
  • Energy & Environment: Waste Processing and Utilization, Metal Recycling, Life Cycle Assessment.

Eligibility:
A. PhD (Engineering):
Experienced candidates working in industries, having a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in Metallurgical / Mineral / Chemical / Mechanical Engg or Materials Science and a good academic record are eligible for admission.

B. Integrated PhD (Engineering):
Candidates working in industries with a Bachelor degree in Engineering / Technology in Mineral / Chemical / Mechanical Engg or Materials Science with a good academic record from well-known universities / institutes. They should have minimum two years industrial experience.

Selection:
Selection for admission to the PhD Program shall be on the basis of interview of short listed candidates at CSIR-NML. The interview for selection will be conducted at CSIRNML, Jamshedpur.
