NIMCET-2013,
the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by the NITs
for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Programme, offered
at National Institute of Technology (NITs) at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal,
Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli
and Warangal for 2013-14, will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on 26th May 2013
(Sunday) at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Hamirpur, Jaipur, Jalandhar,
Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Rourkela, Silchar, Srinagar, Surat,
Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, Warangal, Delhi and Kolkata.
Applicant
should be an Indian National and should have secured at least 60% marks in
aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10 point
scale in case of SC/ST) in (i) BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum three
years full-time or (ii) B E / B Tech or equivalent, from a recognized
University. The percentages of marks in qualifying Degree will be calculated on
the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects studied in all the years
including languages, optional and additional subjects, if any.
Those
appearing for final year/semester of BSc / BSc(Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum 3
years or BE/BTech in the academic year 2012-13 are also eligible to apply for
NIMCET-2013. They have to furnish the proof (in the form of a certificate
issued by the head of institution where the candidate has studied) that he/she
is appearing for the examinations during the academic year 2012-13 and should
submit proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2013 preferably
at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 15th September, 2013,
failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.
Students who have completed/completing Degree BSc / BSc(Hons)/BCA/ BIT of 3
years from Open Universities are also eligible to apply provided their
programme is approved by UGC / AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of
Govt. of India.
NIMCET
2013 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test, counseling and
admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs- Agartala, Allahabad,
Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal,
Tiruchirappalli and Warangal- offering MCA programme. Candidates are not
required to apply separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme. The processing Fee for NIMCET-2013 and
counseling for admission to the MCA programme is Rs.1,600 /- for Open/OBC
category and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST category applicants.
Applicant
has to take a Demand Draft for the appropriate amount in favor of
‘NIMCET-2013’, payable at any Bank and Branch listed in section 5 of the
Information Brochure. The list of Banks is also available at http://nimcet2013.nitw.ac.in/home/processing_fee.php.
The Demand Draft should be taken before proceeding to submit the online
application from.
Those
desirous of admissions for MCA at participating NITs, have to first register at
http://nimcet2013.nitw.ac.in
by creating a username and password, latest by 13.4.2013. Creation of online
login for new user will not be permitted after 13th April, 2013.
The
following documents (both soft and hard copies) will be needed for completing
the registration. (i) Demand Draft issued by Bank (ii) Passport size photograph
and its scanned copy (maximum size :30 KB), signature (maximum size:10 KB)
(iii) all certificates of X Class, XII Class and qualifying Degree.
After
filling the online application form, applicant should take a printout of the
generated application form on A4 size paper. The generated application from
will have a unique application number printed on the right top corner of first
page. This may be noted for all future references and correspondence. Applicant
may keep two copies of the form for future reference. Printout has to be completed as instructed.
Applicant should write his/her name, address and Mobile/Phone Number and
NIMCET-2013 Application Number generated, on the reverse side of the original
Demand Draft.
Completed
application along with all relevant documents as given in the Prospectus,
including the DD should reach ‘The Secretary, NIMCET-2013, National Institute
of Technology, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh-506 004’, by Speed/Registered Post, by
5 pm on 16th April, 2013. Admit card will be available at the web for
downloading, between 7th May, 2013 and 26th May, 2013.
NIMCET-2013
will have a question paper consisting of 120 multiple choice questions from
Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40
questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions) and General English (20
questions). Each question will be followed by four choices. The candidates have
to mark the responses in the OMR sheet using black or blue ink ball point pen
only. All rough work has to be done in the Test Booklet. Rough work should not
be done on the OMR Sheet. Candidate should not put any stray marks on the OMR
Sheet.
Each
correct answer will get 4 marks and each wrong answer will lead to loss of 1
mark. More than one answer indicated against a question will be negatively

A
Candidate securing zero or negative marks either in Mathematics or Total Marks
will be disqualified. The marks obtained in Mathematics, Logical Reasoning,
Computer Awareness, English, will be multiplied by a factor of 3, 1½ , 2 and 1
respectively. Thus maximum weighted marks will be 1000. Based on the marks
obtained by a qualified candidate in NIMCET-2013 test, a rank will be allotted
by adopting this criterion. Ranking will be based on total weighted marks
obtained. In case of a tie, weighted marks in Mathematics, weighted marks in
Logical reasoning and then the weighted marks in Computer Awareness in that
order will be considered to resolve the tie. If the tie still continues, elder
candidate will be given a higher rank.
Results
of NIMCET are expected to be announced by 11th June, 2013.
Ranks
of candidates will be made available at http://nimcet2013.nitw.ac.in and
also in websites of participating institutes.
Candidates will have the facility to download the Rank Card from the
website. Rank Card will be sent to the candidates separately.
The
admission to MCA programme in all the 11 participating NITs will be based on
NIMCET-2013 rank and the choice of institute filled by the candidates. Details

Changes
if any will be notified on http://nimcet2013.nitw.ac.in from time to time. Candidates should check this website
regularly for updates. Candidates declared qualified in NIMCET-2013 will be
allowed to fill the choices of Institutes in which they wish to take admission
into MCA programme.
Candidates
have to login using their login user name and password and fill choices of
institutes online, between 17.6.2013 and 24.6.2013. They should lock their
choices before 5 pm on 24th June 2013. Choices filled by all candidates will be
locked automatically by 5 pm on 24.6.2013. After locking, candidates will not
be able to access their locked choices. Seat allotments will be made on the
basis of rank and locked choices of institutes. More details on the counselling
process is given in the Information Brochure.
