PG admission at Central Institute of Psychiatry

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following postgraduate degree/diploma courses of Ranchi University and conducted at Central Institute of Psychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi commencing from May 1, 2014.

COURSES AND ELIGIBILITY:

GROUP A:

1. Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology

Duration .. 3 years for M.A./M.Sc.(Psychology) degree holders and 2 years after M.Phil in Medical & Social Psychology/ Clinical Psychology

Qualification: First Class Master’s degree in Psychology regular course Or M.Phil in Medical & Social Psychology/ Clinical Psychology of any recognized University, for 3 years and 2 years course respectively.

2. M.Phil in Medical & Social Psychology

Duration .. 2 years

Qualification .. M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology regular course of a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate.

GROUP B

3. M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work

Duration .. 2 years

Qualification .. M.A. in Sociology or Master in Social Work regular course of a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate.

GROUP C

4. Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing

Duration .. One year

Qualification .. ‘A’ Grade Certificate or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.

Experience ..Two years’ experience as Staff Nurse.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Group A & B: Selected candidates may be considered for scholarship of Rs. 8000/- per month in the first and second year, and Rs. 9000/- per month in the third year. The scholarships is limited and may not be available to some candidates joining the course on seats reserved for OBC candidates. However, it may be provided subject  to sanctioning of the same by the Government

Group C: Selected candidates may be considered for scholarship of Rs. 2500/- per month. The scholarships are limited and may not be available to some candidates joining the course on seats reserved for OBC candidates. However, it may be provided subject to sanctioning of the same by the Government.

SELECTION

For Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and M.Phil in Clinical Psychology There shall be an entrance test consisting of 100 MCQs type questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The shortlisted candidates shall be called for interview and practical. The test will have questions of MA/M.Sc. standard. The selection of candidates to the course will be based on total marks obtained in Entrance test, Interview and practical.

For M.Phil (PSW) There shall be an entrance test consisting of 100 MCQs type questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The shortlisted candidates shall be called for interview. The test will have questions of MA (Sociology)/MSW standard. The selection of candidates to the course will be based on total marks obtained in Entrance test and Interview.

For Diploma in Psychiatric nursing course there shall not be a written entrance examination. However, there will be an interview for the selection of the candidates

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Candidates applying for both Ph.D. (Clinical Psychology) and M.Phil in Clinical Psychology courses starting from May 1, 2014 need to submit only one application. They should clearly mention the names of the course applied for, in order of preference.

For Ph.D.(Clinical Psychology, Post M.Phil 2 Years course) :- Certificate of passing M. Phil (M&SP/Clinical Psychology) on or before 31.5.2014.

For M.Phil (Cl. Psychology), M.Phil (PSW):- M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology, Sociology & Master of Social Work and results declared on or before 15.02.2014.

For the D.P.N.:- 2 years working experience certificate as a staff nurse on or before 15.02.2014.

The application form is to be submitted electronically by internet to website: www.cipranchi.nic.in. and a hard copy of the same application form printed on A4 size bond paper complete in all respect along with a Demand Draft of Rs.400/- for General candidate and Rs.300/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates (non-refundable) in favour of Director, CIP, Ranchi payable at Ranchi should reach the Director, Central Institute of Psychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi-834006 (Jharkhand) by December 10, 2013.

The hard copy of the application form should be duly signed and accompanied with Demand Draft, attested photocopies of all certificates, mark sheets, testimonials, Caste Certificate/Disability certificate if applicable.

From the pool of applicants suitable candidates would be asked to appear for a written examination and interview/counseling at CIP, which shall be between February 16–22, 2014. The last date for joining the courses is 31st March, 2014.
