Applications have been invited by Indian Maritime University (IMU) for admission to various programmes under the following Schools during Academic Year 2013-14.

1. School of Nautical Studies
2. School of Marine Engineering
3. School of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering
4. School of Maritime Management
5. School of Maritime Law

School - Courses - Location - Eligibility:

I. School Nautical Studies (SNS)

(i) DNS course leading to B Sc Nautical Science - Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Kochi, Kandla Port - 10+2 / equivalent (PCM-60% & English- 50%)

(ii) BSc Nautical Science (3 years) - Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata - 10+2/equivalent (PCM-60% & English- 50%)

(iii) BSc Maritime Science (3 years) - Mumbai - 10+2/equivalent (PCM-60% & English- 50%)

II. School of Marine Engineering (SME)

(i) BTech (Marine Engineering) (4 years)*  - Chennai, Kolkata  - 10+2 / equivalent (PCM-60% & English- 50%)

(ii) PG Diploma in Marine Engineering (1 year)  - Mumbai, Cochin  - Graduate Engineering in Mechanical Engineering / Marine Engineering with 50% aggregate.

III. School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (SNA)

(i) BSc Ship Building and Repair (3 years) - Kochi - 10+2/equivalent (PCM- 55% & English- 50%)

(ii) BTech Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (4 years)* - Vishakhapatnam  - 10+2 / equivalent (PCM-- 60% & English- 50%)

(iii) MTech Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (2 years) - Vishakhapatnam -  Graduate Engineering in Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Marine / Naval Architecture or equivalent with 60% aggregate.

(iv) MTech Dredging and Harbour Engineering (2 years) - Vishakhapatnam - Graduate Engineering in Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Marine / Naval Architecture or equivalent with 60% aggregate

(v) PhD (Non-residential)  - Vishakhapatnam  - Post graduate degree in Marine Engineering / Naval Architecture

IV. School of Maritime Management (SMM)

(i) MBA Port and Shipping (2 years) - Chennai, Kochi - Any UG Degree with aggregate of 50%

(ii) MBA Logistics (2 years)  - Chennai,(proposed at Kochi & kolkata) - Any UG Degree with aggregate of 50%

(iii) MBA Infrastructure (proposed) (2 years) - Chennai - Any UG Degree with aggregate of 50%

(iv) PhD in Management (proposed) - Chennai - Post Graduate Degree in Management / Related areas with aggregate of 50%

V. School of Maritime Law (SML)

(i) LLM (Maritime Law) (2 years) - Chennai - Any UG Degree in Law with aggregate of 50%

(ii) PhD in Maritime Law (proposed) - Chennai - PG Degree in Law with aggregate of 50%

Admission:

Admission is done through a Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET will be as below:

For all UG Programmes viz., DNS, BSc, BTech categorized under a single CET

Separate CETs for MBA, LLM and MTech

Date of Birth:

For General (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category; candidates whose date of birth fall on or after October 01, 1988; and for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes(ST), and those with Physical Disability / Differently Abled (PD/DA) date of birth to fall on or after October 01, 1982.

Physical Fitness:

Candidate for admission to marine courses are required to produce certificate for medical fitness by authorities authorized by DG Shipping. List of approved doctors for issuing the certificate is available in MS Notice 14 of 2011 (www.dgshipping.com). The candidate must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines.

Payment can be made by downloading the challan from the link:

http://www.imu.edu.in/images/All_Bank_Challan.pdf  and paid at any of the branches specified by IMU (Challan details to be filled-in in the application form).

The Application fee is Rs 1000/- for all Candidates and Rs 700/- for SC/ST Candidates.

After filling in, the Application print to be taken and hard copy with necessary enclosures to be forwarded to Admission Cell, Indian Maritime University, East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai – 600 119 on or before 10.05.2013.

Important Dates:

• Last date for receiving filled-in applications: 10th May 2013
• Date of CET (Pan India): 1st June 2013
• GD/PI at Chennai / Vizag: 21st & 22nd June2013
• Counselling for all UG Programmes: 3rd-8th July 2013
• Commencement of Programmes: 1st August 2013
