MBA at Calicut University


Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut  has invited applications for its two-year (4 semester) MBA programme for the academic year 2013-14 at the Department of Commerce and Management Studies (DCMS 40 seats, Phone: 0494 2400297, 0494 2407363), and at the six Self Financing centres under the Department:

  • School of Management Studies, Calicut (40 seats )
  • School of Management Studies, Palakkad (40 seats)
  • School of Management Studies, Thrissur (40 seats)
  • School of Management Studies, Vatakara (40 seats)
  • School of Management Studies, Kuttippuram (40 seats) and
  • School of Management Studies, Tiroor (Proposed) (40 seats)

under Choice Based Credit Semester System (CCSS) and at SMS it is under Credit and Semester System (CSS). Applications are also invited for the Part-time MBA (Evening programme - Self Financing - 6 semesters) 30 seats each at Calicut, Palakkad and Thrissur.

Eligibility:
The candidates should have a valid CMAT score card from the AICTE. A Bachelor degree (10+2+3 Pattern) in any subject of University of Calicut or that of any other University recognized by the University of Calicut, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (including languages. Two years’ work experience is required for MBA evening programme in addition to the other requirements. In the absence of adequate number of applicants with two years’ experience, others would also be considered. OBC and SC / ST candidates are allowed relaxation  s per rules (i.e., 5% marks relaxation for OBC & Other Eligible Communities and a mere pass for SC / ST).

Candidates awaiting their degree results may also apply. However, original Plus Two / Pre-Degree mark list should be produced for verification at the time of Personal Interview and Group Discussion. Mark lists of the Degree should submit for verification within a month of admission to the programme.

Selection:
Based on the CMAT scores, the candidates will be shortlisted for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) to be conducted by the DCMS. A rank list of the candidates will be prepared after the GD and PI of the short listed candidates based on CMAT score, GD score, PI score and weightage for Plus Two / PDC marks. Admission to the MBA programme at DCMS and the six Schools of Management Studies will be made from the rank list on the basis of the rank.

How to apply?
A candidate shall apply online through the website www.universityofcalicut.info, and send the print out of the filled up application along with a DD for Rs 500 (Rs 167 for SC / ST students, if original community certificate is enclosed) drawn in favour of The Finance Officer, University of Calicut, Payable at SBT,Calicut University and one Rs. 5 stamped envelope (26 cmx15 cm). No other testimonials /copies of certificates are to be submitted along with the application. The print out of completed application along with the DD , and self-addressed, stamped envelope should reach the office of the Head, Department of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Calicut, Malappuram, Kerala, - 673 635 on or before 30 th April 2013.

The candidates who are taking the CMAT May 2013 (www.aicte-cmat.in ) can also apply. However, they will have to submit the CMAT Score Card on or before 15th June 2013, otherwise they will lose the right to be called for GD / Interview and admission to the MBA programme 2013-14.
