MA Social Work at Delhi University

The Department of Social Work, University of Delhi has invited applications for admission to MA in Social Work for the academic session 2013-2015. The new academic session shall commence from 24th July, 2013 (Wednesday).

Eligibility Criteria:

Admission to the Department of Social Work is open to both men and women having completed a Bachelor’s Degree programme of 3 years duration from a recognized University. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

a) Any person with a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 year) in any discipline with minimum 55% marks from recognized university is eligible to apply.

b) BA (H) Social Work students with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized University are eligible to apply.

c) Those Candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply subject to the qualification listed above.

d) Candidates belonging to SC / ST shall be eligible as per Delhi University rules to pass with the minimum marks.

e) PWD candidates shall be allowed 5% relaxation in the eligibility requirement.

f) Candidates belonging to OBC category shall be eligible for admission as per University norms.

Selection Procedure:

Those satisfying eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through a two-stage process involving: (a) Written Test and (b) Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The admission test will be held on 3rd March, 2013 (Sunday) at Delhi.

Seats and Reservation

The total number of seats for the M.A Programme is 85. As per Government of India directives, there is reservation under the following categories. The breakup of seats of different categories is given below:

Applications:

Admission Bulletin along with application forms shall be available from 10th January, 2013 (Thursday) to 11th February, 2013 (Monday) and may be obtained from the Department of Social Work against a cash payment of Rs.650/- (Rs.450/- for SC / ST / PWD candidates) at Department counter or by post or by downloading the form from website www.du.ac.in along with a demand draft of Rs.700/- (Rs.500/- in case of SC / ST / PWD candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi.

Last date for receipt of completed applications at the Department by hand or by post is 18th February, 2013 (Monday).
